Choosing a Toilet Roll Holder

Nobody plans a bathroom around the toilet roll holder, yet it's touched every day and sits at eye level when seated. Two decisions matter: the finish, which should follow the taps rather than the tiles, and the range, which sets the shape.

Finishes

There are six finishes available. The rule that saves the most regret: match the holder to the tap. The tap is the fixed metal in the room and everything else should agree with it.

Matt Black

The most searched finish here by a distance. Against white tiling it's a deliberate graphic line rather than a fitting you're trying to hide, so it suits a pared-back scheme and looks restless in a busy one. Carried across all five ranges, and matched by our black bathroom accessories.

Brushed Brass and Brushed Gold

The warm metals are also popular. Brushed brass is softer and slightly greener, and sits naturally in a period or warm neutral bathroom. Brushed gold is cleaner and brighter, better in a contemporary scheme. They're close enough that they shouldn't be mixed in one room, so pick one and carry it through the brushed brass or gold accessories range.

Chrome

Still the right answer more often than the internet suggests. It shows hard water marks less than the dark finishes and matches the taps already in most UK bathrooms, so it's the sensible choice when you're replacing one fitting rather than designing a room. Brushed Bronze and Gunmetal Grey

The two chosen deliberately. Brushed bronze is our warmest and darkest finish, for a traditional or heavily textured bathroom. Gunmetal grey is the cooler alternative to matt black, softer against a grey or concrete-look scheme. Both run through the brushed bronze and gunmetal grey ranges.

Our Five Ranges

The range sets the shape. Denby is the largest and most neutral, an open-ended bar suiting almost any bathroom. Aldbourne is squarer, for straight-lined schemes. Dakeham is the heaviest and most traditional, the one for period taps. Galby is the slimmest. Axbridge is the smallest range, currently chrome and matt black only.

Wall Mounted, Not Freestanding

Every holder here is wall mounted. We don't stock freestanding or floor standing holders. The two are different purchases: a freestanding holder is furniture you can move, a wall mounted one is a fitting you commit to a position, and it keeps the floor clear in a small cloakroom.
